Allium ''Azureum''

Allium caerulum (=Allium azureum) (=the blue of the heavens) is a native of the Russian steppes. It produces an almost globular umbel, 3 to 4 cm across of rich, sky-blue flowers during the summer on 25 to 75 cm tall flower stems (scapes). Leaves are narrow and three-cornered which wither by flowering time. This species looks best if planted en masse in a sunny, well-drained site.
